Asphalt Milling

Milling grinds off existing asphalt to a specified depth. It is how you resurface a lot without raising its elevation — essential where curbs, door thresholds, or drainage inlets fix the finished grade.

It is also how you correct a lot that no longer drains. Where ponding has developed from settlement or successive overlays, milling to re-establish fall is usually the only real fix.

Milled material is recyclable and often reused, which keeps disposal cost out of the project.

Common questions

Milling and resurfacing, or resurfacing alone?

You can resurface without milling, mill and resurface together, or in some cases neither will do and the area needs full reconstruction. Milling is required where the finished elevation is fixed by curbs, thresholds or inlets, and where existing grades no longer drain.

What happens to the milled material?

It is recyclable and frequently reused, which keeps disposal cost out of the project and makes milling one of the more environmentally sensible operations in paving.
